AGONY FOR ASKAM
23rd September
The Furness League came to a conclusion this weekend and in the
winner-takes-all game at Askam, the homesters failed to get the win they needed
to avoid the drop. BAE A won 12-3 to guarantee themselves top flight bowls
in 2008.

TAT BOWS OUT IN LAST 16
18th September
John Reilly's run to the latter stages of the game's most prestigious open
singles competition sadly came to an end today, when he was beaten 21-11 in the
last 16 at the Waterloo. The event was won by Yorkshire's Chris Mordue who
beat Mike Holden from Rochdale in the final 21-17.
FURNESS LEAGUE
16th September
This weekend will see the 2007 Furness League come to a conclusion, and the big
game will be at Askam where they play host to BAE A. The match is
virtually a 'sudden-death' affair, with the winners almost certain to send the
losers down. The works side go into the game with a slender 2-point

John Reilly and Barry Lowden won the pairs at BAE today, beating Stan Halesworth
and Bill Burgess 21-19 in the final. The event finished after 9pm!!

John Reilly has reached the last 32 of the Waterloo in Blackpool, winning his
last 64 game 21-11 this morning against Brian Hargreaves from Rossendale.
Tat returns to Blackpool on Monday at 10.00am, and will play Andy Delooze from
Wrexham with a place in the last 16 at stake.

Red River's Mark Edmondson won the Ulverston League play-offs last Sunday at
Roose Cons, beating BAE's Roy Moxham 21-18 in the final.
SMIGGER SENIOR AND JUNIOR WIN LINDAL PAIRS
15th September
The final of the Lindal Pair last Sunday was a father-and-son match up; Steve
and Daniel Smith facing clubmates Dave and Mark Dickinson, with victory going to
the Smiggers.

Lindal were confirmed as Furness League Champions at the weekend; King Alfred's
slim hopes were finally ended when they lost 3 games at home against Roose Cons;
Lindal cannot be caught now, and can celebrate a first Furness League win since
1996. Attention now turns to the bottom of the table where the relegation
battle carries on. BAE A had the result of the weekend, winning 11-3 at
home to Salthouse.

Results of re-arranged games played Tuesday and Wednesday night:
Glaxo 6 Institute 9 (game 30)
Post Office 8 King Alfred A 6 (game 18)
A second consecutive away win for Institute eased their relegation worries on
Tuesday night and heaped pressure on the other sides at the bottom. The
Walney side shared the games at Glaxo and claimed 3 precious aggregate points by
7 chalks.

FURNESS LEAGUE
Mixed fortunes for sides in the bottom half this weekend.
Salthouse look to have assured themselves of a comfortable mid-table finish with
a solid 11-3 win at home to Glaxo. At the foot of the table, three sides
battling to avoid relegation - Askam, Institute and BAE A - were all beaten,
however it was Institute who made ground on their rivals by winning 6 games at
home against leaders Lindal. BAE A find themselves back in the dropzone after
picking up 4 points at Roose Cons.
Institute will be aiming to put more distance between themselves and BAE A on
Tuesday night, when they travel to Glaxo to play a re-arranged game (this is
game 30 brought forward).

27th August
Dave Dickinson won his first open singles title last Sunday at
Kings Head, beating team-mate Steve Smith in the final. Smith was beaten
finalist again seven days later at BAE, where homester Mike Procter came through
a high-quality field to win.
